As a Northern Virginia Roofing Company, Rescue Roofing wants you to have all the answers. Here are answers to some of the most often asked questions.
Q: As a home-owner, how do I know when my roof needs work?
A: Aside from the obvious leak or storm damage, you might not know your roof has been compromised until serious damage has been done, to your roof and from moisture penetrating the attic, ceiling and interior wall spaces. That is why we recommend roof inspections- one before Winter and one in the Spring. These will detect any roofing problems before major repairs are needed. They will also ensure your roof is safe from leaks and pests, and give you piece of mind that your home is safe from the elements.
Q: What are my options if I decide to re-roof?
A: The best thing to do is a roof replacement where we strip off the old roofing materials, underlayments and any damaged plywood. We then install new roofing materials, underlayments, replace damaged plywood and all new flashing's. This gives you a fresh and problem free roof. Your other option is to install new shingles right on top of the old--a new layer, keep in mind that if you already have two layers we cannot install a third layer due to the weight and State building codes.
Q: How long does a new roof last?
A: That depends on the type of roofing materials you choose. The average life span of a roof is 20 years. Asphalt shingles last longer than wood shingles, but roofs with metal and slate last longer than 20 years.
In addition to quality roofing materials, having your roof professionally installed helps you get the most out of your investment. At Rescue Roofing, we will consult with you on your roofing options for a quality level and budget that best serves you.
Q: If my roof leaks, can I repair a portion of the roof or do I need to have it replaced?
A: It is not always necessary to replace your roof. Leaks can result from things around your roof such as flashing's, skylights and lifted shingles. At Rescue Roofing you have the option to repair a section or item on your roof. If a leak is from worn out shingles you need to replace the roof or continue to have roof failures.
Q: What does a new roof cost?
A: The investment for your roof depends on several factors: the materials you choose, whether we are stripping off the old roof and the size of your roof.
Q: If I suspect my roof has issues or am concerned from a recent storm, what do I do?
A: You should call Rescue Roofing and have us conduct a no-obligation 20 Point Roof Inspection. We look at your entire roof from the top and the attic, we take photos of any damage we find. We look for leaks and look for potential leaks, we evaluate your roof to see if any damage has occurred from wind or hail. We document any damage and make recommendations based on what we find. With this you will have an accurate picture of your roof's condition and are in a position to make an informed decision.
